SUPPORTING STOP & SHOP’S CONNECTICUT AND NEW YORK EXPANSION
As the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company continues its northeast expansion, Langan provides complete land-development engineering services from conceptual planning through final construction at sites throughout Connecticut and New York.
For a recent redevelopment project in New Britain, Connecticut, Langan performed site/civil and geotechnical engineering, site-work bidding coordination, roadway improvement plans, demolition plans and specifications, and construction oversight and inspection. This existing site consisted of several commercial buildings and an active retail plaza integrated between an established residential neighborhood and an industrial area. Redevelopment consisted of an 82,000-square-foot Super Stop & Shop and three freestanding retail buildings totaling an additional 47,500 square feet. Site work was completed in phases to balance customer traffic to the open retail stores with site construction activities.
Our engineers coordinated the relocation and upgrade of an existing 69,000-volt overhead power line traversing the proposed development. The final design incorporated laminate wood poles on landscaped islands to optimize land use within the development.
