RUTGERS
UNIVERSITY DORMITORY COMPLEX
This large Dormitory project was
constructed on an urban tract of land located in downtown New
Brunswick, New Jersey. The building consisted of a 7-story structure
above a multi-level garage with the street level space occupied
by retail establishments. Like most urban structures, the building
has 0 lot lines and occupied the entire property. The dormitory
site consisted of about 20 individual properties which had multiple
former uses, including residential, commercial and industrial
facilities. Many of these properties had been occupied by 3, and
sometimes 4, different structures which were built and then demolished
as this area of New Brunswick began to mature and expand. Langan
designed all surface and subsurface facilities for this project
and managed the regulatory approval process administered by a
variety of local and state planning and environmental agencies.
Langan also performed extensive traffic studies and designed street
and intersection improvements which allowed this densely developed
area of New Brunswick to function properly after the dormitory/garage
structure was completed and fully occupied.
