Today's century-old passenger rail system under the Hudson River, which connects New York and New Jersey, has reached its capacity—and serves as a bottleneck affecting the region's mobility, health and economic future. The Trans-Hudson Express Tunnel (also known as THE Tunnel), which will run from The Frank R. Lautenberg Station in Secaucus, New Jersey to Manhattan, will connect to 14 subway lines and PATH, Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, and Long Island Rail Road trains—doubling capacity.
