Langan's specialized expertise in environmental and geotechnical engineering prepared the former Trenton Pottery for redevelopment by designing innovative remedial measures to transform areas impacted by former operations into features that could be integrated into a future site redevelopment plan. Today, the American Metro Center, adjacent to the Hamilton Township NJ Transit station, is the cornerstone in the 1,000-acre Hamilton Township Redevelopment Zone.

Langan provided design consulting and engineering oversight services for the $8 million Cascades Park Remediation Project, a coal gasification plant and landfill Superfund site that has been remediated by the City of Tallahassee under an Administration Order of Consent with USEPA. Langan prepared the Removal Action Work Plan, and developed design specifications and drawings for removing contaminated soil and installing a low permeability liner within the excavated area for future use as a stormwater management facility.

Langan prepared a successful application that resulted in a six-plus acre redevelopment area being designated a Brownfield Development Area (BDA). When the project is complete, the "Towne Center at Haddon" will be a mixed-use, transit-oriented development that will revitalize the downtown area.

Langan's creative remediation approach to clean up the 760-acre site along the Delaware River included implementation of in-situ stabilization/solidification (S/S). This innovative solution ultimately saved the client nearly $6 million over more conventional forms of remediation.
