The New Haven City Plan Department hired Langan to provide master planning, permitting, and engineering design services for a multi-million dollar public waterfront recreation project. The new pier, courtyard, and festival sheds will create a destination for water-dependent activities in the city. A replica of the Yale boathouse will serve as the centerpiece of this public waterfront revitalization project and will be designed as a boathouse with a museum and classroom space on the second floor.

Langan professionals worked with a team of planners, architects, traffic engineers and financial and public relations consultants to create a plan for a mixed use transit-oriented development adjacent to the Edison Train station. The conceptual design for the site as well as local traffic improvements, pedestrian connections, trails, and mass transit improvements were created during a locally held week-long community design workshop.

To support the master planning for Stewart Airport, Langan was commissioned to provide a complete EIS for the development of 2,200 acres for Lockheed Air Terminal.

Langan developed a master plan and feasibility study for an eco-park, wildlife sanctuary, and wetland mitigation bank on +/-615 acres of the former Raritan Arsenal Site on the Raritan River. The eco-park will feature an environmental education center, interpretive trails, and accessible boardwalks through the restored salt marsh; passive and active recreational opportunities; and facilities for water-dependent uses.

The master plan's primary focus is on rehabilitation of the borough's 12-acre waterfront park. The park will feature flexible dock facilities and an expanded waterfront promenade. A second component of the master plan focuses on creating a small neighborhood riverfront park on a former Brownfield site. The master plan also includes recommendations for regional trail connection.
