The new Fordham University Law School is part of Fordham’s 15-year master plan expansion for its Upper West Side campus. A 22-story tower is expected to house up to 430 undergraduate students and the nine-story lower level will house lecture halls, library and conference spaces with the remaining upper stories housing dormitory and mechanical spaces. Langan provided a variety of services and made recommendations for limiting the effects of vibrations and movements of adjacent structures during construction.

Langan performed a laser scan and produced 3D Revit model of Buildings 38 and 39, located on the University of the District of Columbia’s Van Ness Campus. The scan included three interior levels as well as a connector between the two buildings, totaling approximately 160,000 square feet. During the on-site survey activity, the buildings remained occupied and in full operation.

The new Cooper Medical School building will be 6-stories with 200,000 square foot of cutting-edge classroom, laboratory and vivarium program areas. Langan integrated multiple design and investigation tasks simultaneously with numerous regulatory agencies in order to obtain necessary approvals critical to maintaining the schedule.

As the focal point of the campus, Walsh Library consists of a four-story structure with an ornate gilded dome at the entrance. Langan supported Seton Hall staff throughout the planning process to ensure that all engineering, planning, and zoning concerns would be addressed by the design and orientation of the project.

Langan worked closely with artist Jennifer Holzer on a commemorative walkway celebrating 125 years of admitting women to the University. Site grading was designed by Langan to balance cuts and fills, which minimized the costs by reducing the need to dispose of the existing fill that contained significant amounts of demolition debris. Langan also designed a timber bridge and its foundations at the center of the walkway.

58 Washington Square South is a 12,750 square-foot, multi-purpose building proposed by NYU. Langan is being retained by NYU for geotechnical engineering, foundation recommendations, boundary and topographic survey, and site/civil engineering - from schematic design through construction document preparation.
