Langan is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ. This individual will serve a key function in managing, enhancing, and monitoring all of the firm’s installed systems and infrastructure, server environments, and applications throughout the firm, and proactively recommending solutions to improve the reliability and performance of the firm’s IT infrastructure. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support systems and infrastructure firm-wide, partnering with Langan’s dynamic cross-disciplinary teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, configure, and administer servers, application software and system management tools;
- Install, diagnose, and repair Microsoft Windows based server operating systems;
- Identify, analyze, and resolve operating/hardware system problems, ensuring the reliability and performance of server infrastructure and safeguarding security and availability to users;
- Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility;
- Apply system analysis techniques and procedures to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications; design, develop, test, or modify computer systems, programs, and/or networks based on user design or specifications;
- Maintain video, storage, virtual, and server environments throughout the firm; Create and maintain documentation of physical and logical infrastructure; Oversee Firm-wide tape backups;
- Administer VMWare environments including, but not limited to: deploying virtual servers, monitoring server performance, and Horizon View; Administer Citrix virtual environments including Citrix NetScalar;
- Participate in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements;
- Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed; Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology; Actively participate in the disaster recovery process; Routinely test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues;
- Remain current on IT practices, guidelines, and technologies; and
- Performs other duties, including special projects, as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or similar discipline;
- Minimum of 5 years systems engineering experience using server/storage technologies with demonstrated experience in full-cycle design, engineering, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Server OS’s, VMWare virtual environments, and NAS storage;
- Ability to scope, architect, and implement new infrastructure environments from the ground up;
- Hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing Windows based server OS’s, VMWare virtual environments, and NAS storage; Strong Experience with VMWare and Storage platforms; Microsoft Unified Messaging and Polycom audio and video conferencing a plus;
- Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, network, and PC operating systems, in addition to current computing hardware and software standards;
- Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Microsoft Exchange, Teams, O365, Azure; Experience working with Office365 Tenants;
- Experience with basic network administration including, but not limited to Meraki firewalls, switches, and AP’s a plus;
- Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills, strong attention to detail and an aptitude for problem solving; Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
- Excellent technical writing, documentation, verbal communication, and presentation skills;
- Ability to work well individually and within groups;
- Possession of a driver’s license in good standing and reliable access to transportation for travel to branch office locations;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; and
- Ability to work on special projects after hours and weekends.
