Langan is seeking a Landscape Architect/Designer to join its collaborative team in Houston, TX. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of urban revitalization and streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, school and university design, rooftop garden, and brownfield redevelopment assignments. The successful candidate will share our passion for design excellence and the challenges of creating inspiring places in urban environments.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects using design, engineering, and graphic software to prepare landscape architecture and design documents;
  • Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments and assist with determining the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
  • Assist with the preparation and modification of various design and engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects;
  • Assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects using reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs;
  • Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture;
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA;
  • Prior relevant internship or professional experience in Landscape Architecture design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, planting, irrigation, lighting, soil improvement, and soil erosion;
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting processes;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
