Langan is seeking a Site/Civil Engineer to join its collaborative team in our Pittsburgh, PA office. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects. Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
- Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
- Perform zoning, ordinance and permit assessments, assist with the sidewalk cast estimations, and determine the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
- Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed;
- Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
- Possess Pennsylvania Professional Engineer licensure, or be in the process of obtaining;
- 3 to 6 years of experience in related site/civil land development engineering;
- General knowledge of local, county, and Pennsylvania state land use processes and regulations;
- Proficiency in site design, stormwater management, storm conveyance, grading, earthwork calculations, utility design, and erosion and sediment control design;
- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological calculations to support land development design projects;
- Experience with stormwater design and permitting processes including NPDES requirements;
- Ability to occasionally support other discipline projects including roadway improvement design, environmental, geotechnical, and energy;
- Active participation in local professional organizations;
- Demonstrated AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills with the ability to design land development plans from concept through construction level documents;
- Ability to conduct occasional field assignments to support land development projects;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment; and
- Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings.
