Langan is seeking a Landscape Architect to join its collaborative team in Boston, MA. This individual will serve a key function in supporting integrated design services for both public and private sector clients at sites located throughout the United States and abroad. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist our multi-disciplinary Boston practice within our New England Landscape Architecture + Planning Studio. Our current project list includes a diverse portfolio of waterfront design, urban revitalization and streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, healthcare and university campus design, embassies, rooftop gardens, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment assignments. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects using design, engineering, and graphic software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, and equipment to prepare landscape architecture and design documents;
  • Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, and assist with determining the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
  • Assist with the preparation and modification of various design and engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects;
  • Assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects using reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs;
  • Provide field inspection services, as needed; and
  • Performs other duties as requested.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience;
  • In process of securing or currently maintain professional licensure;
  • Individual must be highly creative and possess exceptional computer skills in Lumion, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Office is required; 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; 
  • Need to be a self-starter with problem solving abilities; 
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and to follow direction and collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments; 
  • Must be willing to work in the field as necessary;
  • Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends;
  • Ability to occasionally travel to and work in other office locations; and 
  • Possess reliable transportation for job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
