Langan Names Phil Tringale Chair of the Board of Directors

Parsippany, NJ (February 23, 2021) – Langan Engineering & Environmental Services officially named Philip T. Tringale, PhD, PE its new Chair of the Board of Directors. Over four decades, Phil Tringale, a Senior Consultant in the firm, has served in various technical, management, and governance roles. In 2010, when Langan acquired Treadwell & Rollo, based in San Francisco, Tringale was President of that firm and then played a leadership role in the integration of the two companies, and has since served as a member of Langan’s Executive Committee and Board.

“Langan is pleased to announce Phil Tringale as its new Chair of the Board of Directors, only the third person to hold that title in the firm’s 50 years in business,” said David T. Gockel, President/CEO, Langan. “Phil is a nationally respected environmental professional, whose expertise and industry knowledge brings a unique and unparalleled perspective to the leadership of our Board.”

Tringale provides multidisciplinary consulting and expert witness services to a diverse group of public and private sector clients throughout the United States. His experience includes National Contingency Plan compliance, expert witness testimony and litigation consulting, identification of contaminant sources and confirmation of extent, evaluation of remedial designs and cost estimates, and allocation of multi-party cost and responsibility. Some of his notable projects have been on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, the City of Los Angeles Housing Authority, the Port of Oakland, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, as well as national law firms and international corporations. Tringale also holds positions with American Society of Civil Engineers, National Ground Water Association, National Civil Engineering Society, and has been elected to the Academy of Distinguished Alumni at University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his PhD.

“I am honored to assume the Chair role on Langan’s Board, and I look forward to working with my fellow members and our shareholders to maintain the high standards and reputation of our firm,” said Tringale. “Despite the challenges of today, we look confidently toward the future, envisioning ways to improve, innovate, and deliver exceptional solutions to our clients and maintain our extraordinary firm culture.”

Tringale succeeds Andrew J. Ciancia, PE, LEED AP, D.GE, F.ASCE, who served as Chair of the Board since 2015. Ciancia continues to serve as a Senior Consultant with Langan.

“On behalf of Langan, I want to express gratitude to Andy Ciancia for leading our board for the past six years,” said Gockel. “Andy’s leadership, integrity, and expertise have been a driving force in Langan’s continued success.”
