Avaya Stadium

OVERVIEW
Langan provided environmental, geotechnical and seismic engineering services for the modern, open-air European style soccer stadium that is the home of the San Jose Earthquakes. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) had ordered a closure of the former Central Plant following an RCRA facility investigation. To address DTSC’s corrective measures, Langan assisted the construction team to comply with the agency’s approved Soil Management Plan, worked with DTSC to recycle concrete from the former FMC facility, and evaluated potential vapor intrusion risks from residual volatile organic compounds, which demonstrated that a sub-slab vapor mitigation system was unnecessary. We also assisted the Earthquakes and the construction team with waste profiling, stockpiling, and reuse and disposal options.
