New York City FC Etihad Park
OVERVIEW
Located within the 23-acre Willets Point redevelopment, the 25,000-seat Etihad Stadium will be a world-class, soccer-specific venue for New York City FC and the first fully electric stadium in Major League Soccer (MLS). Dubbed “The Cube,” fans will be welcomed into the stadium with a cube-shaped entrance illuminated by 110,000+ SF of LED lights and vibrant imagery. The stadium will also provide a permanent home for the club’s foundation City in the Community. Langan prepared civil design plans and entitlements, performed a subsurface investigation, conducted a waste characterization, and designed subsurface membrane depressurization systems to mitigate ground vapors. We also worked closely with the structural engineer to develop a durable foundation design, as the site is located on reclaimed land that was historically part of Flushing Bay. The foundation consists of a pile-supported structural slab spanning the entire site. Etihad Stadium is expected to open in time for the 2027 MLS season.
