Etihad Park – New York City FC
OVERVIEW
Etihad Park, New York City's first-ever soccer-specific stadium and the future home of New York City FC, will be a world-class, 25,000-seat professional soccer stadium. New York City FC will privately finance the stadium, which will be the first fully-electric stadium in Major League Soccer. Etihad Park will be the permanent home of New York City FC, the 2021 MLS Cup and 2022 Campeones Cup champions, and build on over a decade of investment in local communities across the City by providing a permanent home for the club’s foundation City in the Community. To help New York City FC execute its vision for Etihad Park, Langan prepared civil design plans and entitlements, performed a subsurface investigation, conducted a waste characterization, and designed subsurface membrane depressurization systems to mitigate ground vapors. We also worked closely with the structural engineer to develop a durable foundation design, as the site is located on reclaimed land that was historically part of Flushing Bay. The foundation consists of a pile-supported structural slab spanning the entire site. Etihad Park is expected to open for the 2027 MLS season.
