Saint Vincent College – The Dunlap Family Athletic and Recreation Center

OVERVIEW
This 76,000 SF indoor athletic complex is designed to enhance sports and recreational offerings with a large turf field for football, soccer, and lacrosse; two multi-sport courts; a running track; a café; locker rooms; fitness areas; offices; and utility rooms. Langan provided site grading services, optimized building placement, and designed the entry driveway, access roads, parking, underground stormwater management system, and pedestrian pathways that seamlessly connect with existing campus routes.

New Canaan Library

OVERVIEW
The New Canaan Library project team committed to developing an energy efficient building with a low carbon footprint, and agreed to an initiative to track building materials and guarantee their production does not include use of forced labor. Langan provided general site layout, grading, and consulting for vehicular pavement areas; developed the stormwater management approach; and conducted a boundary and topographic survey, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, soil characterization sampling, groundwater sampling and permitting, field investigations, and construction administration. We also provided a traffic assessment with options for on-site and off-site parking, and designed a raised pedestrian crosswalk with rectangular rapid flashing beacons and CTDOT encroachment permitting.

Techo International Airport

OVERVIEW
This state-of-the-art, 280 million SF airport is being built in three phases, with phase one projected to accommodate up to 13 million passengers a year. The development will include a terminal headhouse with two piers, VIP and general aviation terminals, 5,600 parking spaces, and a ground transportation center. Langan reviewed passenger forecasts and flight schedules to design the land-side roadway network, manage traffic flow, and optimize parking provisions. We prepared parking layouts addressing design constraints by focusing on separate single-level lots and connectivity with key arterials and highways. We also provided input for the foul sewer design, storm drainage, and irrigation systems.

Children’s Day School Preschool

OVERVIEW
The 8,500 SF, single-story Children’s Day School preschool includes classrooms and administration space and a 1,300 SF stormwater infiltration area with permeable surfaces, greenery, and improvements to the schoolyard. Langan conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Characterization to evaluate the soil quality and soil vapor, identifying the presence of hazardous lead concentrations and leading the project to enter the Article 22A Site Assessment and Mitigation program with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). We prepared a Site Mitigation Plan, a Dust Monitoring Plan, and conducted soil management observations and dust monitoring during construction. Upon completion, we prepared the Article 22A Closure Report and Cap Maintenance Plan and assisted in entering a Land Use Covenant with SFDPH for residual contamination.

East End Studios Sunnyside Campus

OVERVIEW
Sunnyside Studios’ new $275M campus in Western Queens marks New York’s revival in the film and production industry. The 340,000 SF, Class A facility includes three full-service sound stages and a rooftop flex-stage with views of the Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan skylines. Langan performed subsurface investigations, analyzed the bearing capacity of the soils, and designed a cost-effective shallow foundation system. We also coordinated with NYCOER for soil export approvals, conducted waste characterization, gathered permit approvals from various New York agencies, and conducted boundary, topographic, and utility surveys.

Perth Amboy High School

OVERVIEW
As part of the design-build team, Langan is providing site/civil, geotechnical, traffic, surveying, landscape architecture, and environmental engineering services for the new Perth Amboy High School project. The project includes construction of a 576,000-SF facility that will be able to serve a maximum of 3,300 students in grades 9 to 12, and support three distinct educational programs.
