Langan Geotechnical Laboratory Opens at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

The Langan Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory opened at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) on Friday, April 29, as part of a larger ribbon-cutting ceremony for the university’s new Civil & Environmental Engineering Building.

Langan has a long-standing relationship with the university, with many UIUC graduates now working for the firm. The laboratory honors the work of Edward J. Cording, Melvin T. “Tom” Davisson, Gabriel G. Fernandez, Alfred J. “Skip” Hendron Jr., Gholamreza Mesri, Peter A. Lenzini, and Alberto S. Nieto. These individuals are former UIUC faculty members who contributed to the esteemed reputation of the school’s geotechnical engineering program.

Langan is honored to support future engineers and the AEC industry with this space. A special thank you to George Leventis, Rudolph Frizzi, Alan Poeppel, and the six other Langan employees/UIUC alumni who contributed to our leadership gift: Jared Green, Clay Patterson, James Delimitros, Bahadir Eksioglu, Joseph Good, and Richard Lo.
