UConn School of Nursing

OVERVIEW
The UConn School of Nursing is strategically located adjacent to clinical, academic, and research space on the university’s South Campus. The 90,000 SF building includes instructional spaces, laboratories, a student academic center, and additional room for educational growth. Langan has supported the project since the beginning, collaborating with the university and design team on an extensive site location, design, and feasibility analysis. Once the site was chosen, we prepared a topographic survey of the project area and developed a site design emphasizing pedestrian circulation and connections to the campus. The design also reconfigured campus parking and created an event plaza highlighted by medicinal garden plantings, educational signage, and native materials. Additionally, our team prepared two Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection stormwater permits to support UConn’s green initiatives and developed a ground improvement approach to decrease the amount of exported soil, which reduced the project timeline and budget.
