Ahead of the Compliance Curve
Langan Expands its Team of Environmental Experts to Handle Regulatory Challenges Below and Above Ground
On a sweltering day last summer, Danielle Sandella trudged through an overgrown parcel of land in New England. Though abandoned at that time, the site is on track to become a state-of-the-art, carbon-negative municipal solid waste processing facility—the first of its kind in the United States. Sandella, an environmental compliance expert with nearly two decades of expertise, assessed the preliminary design and got to work on the complex environmental permits related to air, waste, and water required to turn this cutting-edge, sustainable idea into a reality. As the permitting expert and liaison between the design team, engineers, and regulators, Sandella is essential to bringing new life to this once-deserted parcel.
“Companies are expected to be environmental stewards, especially as public interest grows in matters such as water conservation, emissions reductions, and recycling,” said Sandella, CHMM, Senior Project Manager, Langan. “Our team tracks countless environmental compliance regulations and revisions across the country and provides innovative solutions that help our clients maintain compliance.”
Langan is designing sustainable solutions for compliance issues related to air quality, stormwater, wastewater, waste management, environmental violations, and more. For Sushil Nadkarni, an air quality expert in Texas with 22 years of experience supporting the oil & gas, manufacturing, and technology industries, the primary focus is establishing Langan as the premier full-service environmental firm in the Gulf Coast and across the United States.
“Langan’s integrated services bring great value because they allow the firm’s many environmental experts to work together on client pain points, tackle those concerns, and anticipate future needs,” said Nadkarni, Associate, Langan. “We focus on the goals of each project and incorporate additional Langan services as needed—including ESG, EHS, and traditional engineering consulting—to streamline processes and keep clients on course and compliant.”
Through these internal partnerships, Langan has introduced innovative compliance solutions that are advancing the industry, such as an automated air quality tool currently used by upstream oil & gas clients. By implementing this tool, environmental teams can significantly reduce the time spent on the permitting application process.
