Langan Helps Put Offshore Wind into the Power Grid
Change is on the horizon. The United States Departments of Energy, Interior, Commerce, and Transportation have set a joint goal of generating 30 gigawatts of electric power through offshore wind development by 2030. That’s enough to power 10 million homes with clean energy, while avoiding approximately 78 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.
Utility agencies and corporations have teamed on multiple offshore developments of leasing parcels along the Eastern seaboard, and are turning to Langan as a trusted onshore consultant.
Whether tasked with identifying natural resources concerns before finalizing the project design and cable routing; providing geotechnical, environmental, and permitting services; surveying onshore benchmarks correlated with offshore wind turbines; or upgrading substations, bulkheads, and waterfront terminal facilities, Langan’s multidisciplinary approach to offshore wind helps keep the lines of communication—and power transmission—open.
“From the initial stages of an offshore wind project into construction, our team provides clients with the integrated technical expertise needed for these complex developments,” said Jacqueline Fusco, Senior Project Manager, Langan. “By collaborating in-house with all disciplines involved and applying the local knowledge of our offices along the coast from Boston to Miami, we are well-equipped and ready to help transmit offshore power ashore.”
