Brownfield Business Hits Pittsburgh
Langan Environmental Experts Take Center Stage at National Conference
What do Heinz Field, PNC Park, and Rivers Casino have in common? It’s not simply that they are located along the same river in Pittsburgh. The deeper answer is that they are all “brownfield redevelopment” projects in Pittsburgh, which is where the 2017 National Brownfield Conference takes place next week. And with more than $5.6 million in EPA brownfields grants since 2005, it would be hard to identify a better host city.
Pittsburgh is also very much a “Langan city.” The firm currently has 45 professionals providing our full complement of integrated services. Not surprisingly, with the conference in town, some of the firm’s experts in brownfield redevelopment will be speaking, moderating panels, and leading tours.
Mimi Raygorodetsky, Senior Associate and immediate past President of the NYC Brownfield Partnership, will present “How to Profit from Non-Profits.” Jason Hanna, Senior Associate, and Kay Linnell, Senior Project Manager, will lead a mobile workshop titled “Riverfront Redevelopment: Three Crossings and Washington’s Landing.” Greg Firely, Senior Project Manager and an expert on securing brownfield grant funding, will participate as an expert consultant in the Economic Redevelopment Forum.
“Langan has been supporting brownfield redevelopment for nearly half a century, so we bring a lot to the table in terms of leading-edge remediation, practical experience, and knowledge of the business of brownfields,” said Raygorodetsky. “In fact, we have successfully completed major brownfield projects in many states across the nation, which includes New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, and California.”
Langan is also supporting a series of special events at the National Brownfield Conference. The firm is a breakfast sponsor for the Center for Creative Land Recycling; a lunch sponsor for the Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast; and the organizer of a “Women @ Langan Holiday Toy Drive & Networking Event,” benefiting University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Children Hospital.
