Cultivating Growth
Landscape Architects Join Langan to Start Studios Across the Country
If there’s one professional at Langan who knows how to make something grow, it’s Michael Szura, leader of the firm’s Landscape Architecture + Planning (LA+P) Group. He came to Langan in 2001 to start the practice, which has since flourished to over 50 designers in multiple offices nationwide.
How did Szura do it? If you ask him, the better question is, “Why?” Szura saw a tremendous opportunity to integrate a high-end landscape architecture studio with a well-established engineering and environmental services firm. That’s also the reason why talented landscape architects have joined Langan’s newer offices in Chicago, Tampa, Irvine, and Austin, while the team has added a new crop of leaders in mature markets like Philadelphia, Houston, Boston, New Haven, and Parsippany, the firm’s headquarters.
“Entrepreneurial landscape architects want a culture where they can build award-winning design studios and establish business relationships through landscape design and planning,” said Michael Hunton, Associate Principal and leader of Langan’s LA+P team in the Northeast and Midwest. “We work as a truly collaborative team, merging sophisticated landscape architecture with Langan’s premier engineering expertise to achieve holistic design, streamline project coordination, and bring measurable value to our clients.”
Langan’s LA+P leaders have been on the move around the country to help foster continued growth. Hunton began his career in New Jersey before moving to New Haven and later Boston to grow a New England practice. Similarly, Senior Project Manager Steve Laudati, based in HQ, is developing a portfolio of impressive projects throughout Florida and the Southeast. And Szura himself recently relocated to Southern California to guide the flourishing West Coast operations. Such ground cover demonstrates that the landscape architecture practice at Langan is cultivating vibrant business successes through vigorous career growth across the team.
