Getting It Right in the Rockies
Langan’s Denver Office Soars Sky High with Mix of Challenging Projects in Colorado
If Langan had drafted someone from its ranks to lead its new office in Denver, Luis Berroteran would have been a top choice. After all, Colorado is a destination for outdoor enthusiasts, and Luis is a competitive tri-athlete and avid back-country skier, not to mention an excellent geotechnical engineer with significant national and international experience. Yet while Luis has become the leader of Langan’s Denver office, it was not the firm that originally put him there – it was his wife.
In 2017, Berroteran’s wife, Kristen was promoted and transferred from New Jersey to Denver. Langan did not want to lose Luis, so he was given the autonomy to start and grow an office in the Mile High City, and that is the direction that Langan’s business has taken there – straight up. Cases in point: NAIOP Colorado named Langan projects Colorado Projects of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
In addition to multiple fulfillment and distribution centers, Langan is active on several projects in the resort market and on the commercial and residential fronts in downtown Denver. Such growth has allowed hiring and internal recruitment to bring Langan’s local full-service team to double digits, and prompted a move to a new, larger space. Last month, Berroteran was named a 2020 Top Young Professional by ENR Mountain States, but he’d be the first one to defer credit to Langan’s success in the region.
“Our clients and allies have responded extremely well to Langan in Colorado, with projects here as well as in Montana and Utah,” said Berroteran. “I’m truly grateful that Langan gave me the opportunity to start our Denver office, and of course I should also credit my wife, because her great career move helped us – and Langan – find a home in the Rockies.”
