Langan Supports Development of American Music and Cultural Venue

When the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music opened in June, thousands of visitors converged on Monmouth University’s campus to celebrate one of New Jersey’s most iconic artists. While the grand opening may have captured the spotlight, it was the collaborative efforts of Langan and the rest of the project design team that helped set the stage for the center’s debut.    

Located in Long Branch, NJ, the $50-million, 30,000-SF facility pays homage to the Boss’s legacy while celebrating American music across genres and generations. Langan provided integrated site/civil, traffic, and natural resources services for the development, drawing on years of experience on campus and extensive knowledge of the site to efficiently navigate permitting requirements amid the accelerated project schedule. The team also prepared for the center’s anticipated popularity with its traffic design, which incorporated accommodations for buses of all sizes to easily access the site. 

“Our team has supported various developments at Monmouth University, but this project stood out from the start because of the attention it garnered and its cultural importance,” said Bill Boska, Senior Project Engineer, Langan. “It’s exciting to help create a space that celebrates the power of music, brings people together, and will positively impact the university and surrounding community for years to come.” 

While the center’s grand opening welcomed thousands in mid-June, including Springsteen and other prominent New Jersey-born musicians, its impact extends well beyond the initial week-long celebration. The high-profile project has helped enhance the university’s arts program offerings and made the school a go-to destination for history buffs, student groups, and music lovers born in the U.S.A. and beyond.
