Women@Langan Celebrates 5th Anniversary as Industry Leading Advocacy Group
When Cristina Gonzalez, Michele O’Connor, and Caryn Barnes began discussing the need for an employee resource group for women, they knew they wanted to create a space for community and career advancement. Now, five years after its launch, Women@Langan is celebrating its success and growth while remaining focused on its mission to foster an atmosphere of support, mentorship, and advocacy.
Since the launch by Gonzalez, Senior Principal, O’Connor, and Barnes, Principals, Women@Langan has hosted hundreds of events. These events range from internal networking and educational programs to the Women’s Leadership Summit and the “How Are Women Managing in a Virtual World?” panel featuring top industry leaders in the midst of COVID-19. Additionally, dozens of Langan employees have taken the chance to step up and lead at the local level both prior and throughout the pandemic.
Through these endeavors, the group has developed relationships with external organizations, inspired firms to establish similar women-centered initiatives, supported local and national philanthropic efforts, and encouraged employees to create other affinity groups at Langan. Women@Langan also works to emphasize the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace, regardless of gender.
“The success of Women@Langan over the past five years is a direct result of the leadership and enthusiasm shown by the women working at our firm,” said Mimi Raygorodetsky, Senior Associate at Langan and Corporate Chair of Women@Langan. “We are proud of our contributions to Langan, our peers, and the industry as a whole, and look forward to what we will be able to contribute in the future.”
