Lone Star Schooling
Langan Supports Rapid Growth of Texas ISDs
Everything really is bigger in Texas, including the budgets to build bigger and better school facilities. With more than 470,000 new residents moving to Texas in the last year alone, the Lone Star State must expand its K-12 school system to keep up with the growing population.
For more than a decade, Langan has provided engineering support to many independent school districts (ISDs). Importantly, Langan’s Texas team has also expanded, growing from a start-up office in Houston in 2015 to a multi-office practice with 130 professionals, including the acquisition of JPH Land Surveying in March. That firm’s founder, Jon Hoebelheinrich, and his team bring critical knowledge needed to navigate the state’s ISD program.
“It’s no secret that Texas is experiencing rapid growth, which creates a lot of excitement, but with that comes the need for new educational facilities, infrastructure upgrades, and campus expansions state-wide and as quickly as possible,” said Hoebelheinrich, Associate Principal, Langan. “By combining our local knowledge of the survey requirements associated with land development, regulatory concerns, and ISD client processes with Langan’s survey technology, we’re able to lead these fast-tracked efforts efficiently.”
As Texas revitalizes and expands its K-12 infrastructure, Langan’s survey team is implementing state-of-the-art technology—including 3D laser scanning, Leica Pegasus TRK mobile mapping, and aerial LiDAR—to provide survey-grade deliverables for projects across the state. These capabilities, coupled with the firm’s breadth of experience and integrated services, position Langan’s Texas team to keep pace with a sector that keeps getting bigger and bigger.
