Our Solar Systems
Langan Tackles Complex Sites to Help Harness the Sun
While we are all stressing the importance of “essential” things during this pandemic, when you really think about it … nothing is more essential than the sun. Perhaps that’s why ground-mounted solar arrays continue to sprout up around us and are becoming a key component of our energy mix.
“Our clients recognize that solar hits the triple-bottom line: protecting the planet, supporting communities, and growing business,” said Mike Finan, Senior Associate, Langan. “That said, solar projects are by no means simple, but our integrated services certainly help clients mitigate risks so we all can share the rewards.”
Solar arrays are often placed on poor sites in difficult locations, where access is not easy. Project drawings require precision with respect to site surveys, site layout, grading and drainage, soil erosion and sediment control, and landscaping plans. Furthermore, like any land development project, time is of the essence. Clients often depend on external funding sources pegged to deadlines, which means swiftly securing necessary permits is critical.
“Langan’s approach is to be clear and uncomplicated in our communication, which means providing a realistic explanation of the methods we use to solve any technical challenges; depicting precisely how a solar project will look; and explaining how it will positively impact the local environment,” said Crystal Eggers, Senior Project Manager, Langan.
Success speaks for itself, as Langan’s solar development experience is expanding up and down the East Coast. The firm is also managing battery storage projects, which are sometimes part of a solar array, or can be located in suburbs and inner cities. Battery storage literally adds tons of weight to any project, and Langan in turn adds its geotechnical expertise to design against settlement issues.
