Langan’s New Office Spikes from One Employee to 20 in First Year
When Langan needed someone to lead its new Syracuse office, Patrick Farnham was ready for the responsibility. Farnham, an Associate Principal who started his environmental engineering career in New York City, has always been willing to travel to take on challenges: from Hudson Yards and the Gowanus Canal to multiple Engineers Without Borders projects in Kenya and Rwanda. In comparison, moving to Syracuse was a short trip, but his leadership has made a huge impact.
Growth in the region is driven by Central New York’s massive, long-term investment in advanced manufacturing and the increased demand for infrastructure, grid resiliency, housing, and community development that comes along with such a transformation. Langan anticipated this unprecedented economic investment and is well–positioned to expand its reach and bench in the region.

One project highlight is the East Adams redevelopment, a $1-billion revitalization of Syracuse’s historic 15th Ward into a vibrant mixed-use, mixed-income community. Langan has supported this project since its inception, advancing the initial phases through the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program while satisfying SEQR and NEPA requirements for local approvals and state and federal financing. The firm’s role has expanded significantly since then, providing integrated services for multiple phases of the 118-acre East Adams Neighborhood Transformation. This work is unlocking additional opportunities for new housing, community facilities, and economic investment.

“There’s a tremendous amount of momentum across Central New York right now, and our Syracuse office is thrilled to be a part of it,” said Farnham. “With major investments in advanced manufacturing, energy initiatives, and transformative community redevelopments, the region is creating opportunities for current and future generations.”
