Transforming Tampa
Langan Projects Help to Ignite the Revitalization of Cigar City
Justin Seltzer joined Langan as an intern in the firm’s prestigious geotechnical practice in New York City. After being hired full-time, he transferred to Langan’s Washington, DC operations, where he played a key role working internationally on US Embassy projects. After traveling the world, where did he decide to put down roots? Tampa—where he has since helped lead the growth of Langan’s local office into the engineering and environmental consultant of choice for some of the region’s most challenging projects.
The firm got its start in Cigar City 35 years prior with its work providing innovative foundation design for Florida’s tallest building at the time: One Tampa Center. Inspired by Tampa’s unique geologic conditions and opportunities for development, Langan continued its work in the region following the completion of the award-winning high-rise project. Now, the team is providing integrated services for projects in the residential, high-rise, utility, mixed-use, hospitality, aviation, and warehouse/industrial sectors—including marquee developments like the Pendry Residences, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino expansion, Water Street Tampa, and Marina Pointe.
“Tampa has been on an upward trajectory for the last decade or so, which our local team has supported by providing expertise on everything from deep foundations to site/civil engineering for large-scale residential subdivisions to environmental remediations,” said Seltzer, Associate Principal and leader of the Tampa office. “We’re energized by the continued growth of the city we call home and thrilled to play an integral role in many of the region’s most complex projects.”
With a team of over 25 professionals—and growing—Langan’s Tampa office looks forward to continuing to expand in parallel with the region. The firm now has seven located in the Sunshine State, with other offices in Miami, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, St. Petersburg, and Jacksonville.
