The U Marks a Century
Langan Supports the University of Miami with Land Development and Digital Solutions Services
The University of Miami turns 100 next year—and nothing celebrates that milestone more than Langan’s premier project on campus: Centennial Village, a multi-year, sustainable development modernizing student housing. Located in the heart of the university’s main campus, Centennial Village will soon provide a welcoming environment that elevates the college experience for first-year students.
The project encompasses five residential buildings, with the first two opening this fall, plus a dining hall and pedestrian bridge improvements. To properly prep the site, Langan led multiple enabling projects, including water main and gravity sewer extensions, chilled water main relocations, and sewer pump station assessments and design.
The enabling projects also allowed Langan to bring on its digital solutions and survey teams to catalog the main campus’s chilled water system. This collaboration quickly expanded to all on-campus utilities, with the team developing a GIS solution to integrate segmented information and increase data sharing across departments.
Yet Centennial Village is only one piece of the firm’s work at The U. Since 2008, Langan has played a large role in the university’s development, providing a mix of services for over 20 projects across the Coral Gables and UHealth campuses. Projects range from the Life Sciences & Technology Park and Shalala Student Center to Patricia Louise Frost Studios and Knight Recital Hall to a new central energy plant—to name a few.
“Our team’s integrated services and familiarity with the area are key to our ongoing, successful relationship with the campus,” said Sarah Amritt, Senior Project Manager, Langan, and University of Miami alumnus. “Multiple Langan professionals are proud graduates of the university, so we’re thrilled to apply our expertise to give back to our alma mater so it can accommodate future generations of Hurricanes.”
