Managing Principal

Alan Poeppel has 30 years of geotechnical engineering experience. His diverse expertise includes the management, investigation, instrumentation, design, and construction of commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, cultural institutions, public schools and universities, airports, infrastructure/master planning, and specialized (i.e. high-rise and super-tall buildings) projects in the United States and overseas. He has extensive knowledge about the coordination and supervision of subsurface investigations, establishment and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation, designs for shallow and deep foundation systems; evaluation of earth and rock slope stability, preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations, and coordination/supervision of construction inspection services.

Poeppel has spearheaded a number of notable projects including the New York Botanical Garden, Silver Towers, African Burial Ground, Sotheby’s auction house, Rockefeller University campus expansions, and the award-winning Mott Haven Campus in the Bronx. He has also worked on supertall tower projects in India and the Middle East, including Kuala Lumpur City Center and Jeddah Tower.
