John D. Plante, PE
John Plante is a Managing Principal/Executive Vice President at Langan who serves on the Executive Committee and oversees the firm’s New Haven, Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts offices. He has leadership roles on firm initiatives, such as Corporate Social Responsibility – Citizenship, Next Generation Forum, LANGAN/Giving, Strategic Planning group, Health & Safety Committee, and the Associate Nomination Committee. Plante has experience with a variety of private and public market sectors, focusing on bringing value to clients.
Plante began his career in Boston working on the early stages of the Big Dig. Currently, his career has come full circle with the opening of Langan’s Boston office. He was the project executive leading a team of architects and engineers in activating the waterfront with the completion of The Boathouse at Canal Dock for the City of New Haven. He led Langan’s role on the development team of the award-winning Blue Back Square, a new urbanism project in downtown West Hartford, and assisted Stop & Shop Supermarkets in their successful expansion program, having worked on over 100 sites throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Plante is also the project executive for The SoNo Collection urban mall in Norwalk, Connecticut for Brookfield.
Plante is a member of numerous organizations including American Society of Civil Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Institute of Architects (professional affiliate), International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Industry Practice Committee of the CBC. He was appointed to the Connecticut General Assembly’s Shoreline Preservation Task Force, which is tackling climate change impacts on the state’s residents, infrastructure, and economy.
