Managing Principal

Steven Ueland has 40 years of diverse experience in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, and environmental remediation, with a particular emphasis on leading Langan’s PFAS Practice. He specializes in remedial investigation and feasibility assessment, remedial design, planning, and implementation of remediation/closure strategies. His extensive experience includes work with large chemical and petroleum manufacturing sites and the assessment and remediation of both Light and Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (LNAPL).

Ueland is the LSRP of Record on many large and complex remediation projects in New Jersey. He leads a team of more than 100 professionals providing a diverse range of environmental services, including remediation, design, hydrogeologic and geochemical assessment, contaminated sediment characterization and remediation, regulatory compliance and permitting, and remediation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and other contaminants of emerging concern (CECs). His leadership of Langan’s PFAS Practice highlights his expertise in addressing these challenging contaminants and developing innovative solutions for their remediation.

Ueland actively supports industry groups and provides science-based advocacy positions for relevant technical guidance and regulations, including sediment remediation and ecological risk assessment. As an active member and former Board member of the Chemistry Council of NJ (CCNJ), he frequently speaks at industry events and has served as a thought leader in the field.
