Five Langan Projects Awarded by Top Industry Organizations

Three industry organizations recently recognized a total of five Langan projects in their annual awards programs.

The ASCE Los Angeles Section recognized the UC Irvine Campus Medical Complex with its Outstanding Geotechnical Engineering Project award. Langan provided geotechnical and environmental services for this design-build project, which encompasses a 350,000 SF hospital, a 220,000 SF Comprehensive Cancer and Ambulatory Care Center, a 35,000 SF central plant, and an eight-story parking structure. The firm conducted comprehensive field explorations, developed a soil management plan, and coordinated with the structural engineer to design cost-efficient shallow foundation systems for each proposed building. These designs included customized solutions to address the variability in the foundation soils, resulting in appreciable cost savings.

Additionally, The Ellinikon was honored with two prestigious awards this year: the MIPIM award for Best New Mega Development and the Honor Award for Analysis and Planning by the American Society of Landscape Architects. Located in Athens, Greece, The Ellinikon is a regeneration project located on the site of a former airport. The project will feature residential, office, and retail spaces, entertainment venues, sports and recreation facilities, hotels, a public beach, and a sprawling park situated across 6.2 million square meters. Langan is providing services as the Lender’s Technical Advisor and a civil engineer for the massive development.

Finally, Dezeen—an influential architecture, interiors, and design magazine—conducted a reader poll for the best tall buildings completed in the past year, receiving over 1,500 votes. One Za’abeel in Dubai came in first place with 26% of the vote, while The Spiral and One High Line in New York City came in second and fourth place, respectively.
