Langan Expands Environmental
Experience in Aviation
It’s before dawn, below freezing. The wind on the tarmac at Newark Liberty Airport has delayed some flights, but Jeff Stoicescu and his environmental team are ahead of schedule. He leads a rugged bunch of scientists and engineers who specialize in investigating, delineating, and remediating potential contaminants for several major airlines and authorities. Their practice takes them to airport projects around the world, so it’s rare that you find them behind desks.
“Getting the job done means dealing with all manner of natural and logistical challenges, but that’s where my crew wants to be . . . in the elements,” said Stoicescu, Senior Associate at Langan. “It’s a cliché to say that aviation is always on the move, but it is true. And it applies to staying ahead of evolving environmental regulations that affect airline operations on the ground.”
Langan services support a multitude of aviation needs, including spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plans; underground and aboveground storage tank closure; environmental investigation and remediation; local, state, and federal permitting; and EHS compliance and management. Firm experience includes the following airports: JFK, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty, Boston Logan, SFO, LAX, Chicago O’Hare, McCarran Las Vegas, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington Dulles, and Reagan National.
Stoicescu’s practice maintains a stellar track record of meeting and exceeding environmental standards for Langan’s aviation clients. He also integrates the firm’s complementary services — survey, 3D laser scanning/modeling and mobile mapping, natural resources permitting, site/civil, and geotechnical engineering — to provide holistic solutions that bring measurable value in terms that matter most to airlines: efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
