Langan Opens for Business in Boston

Local Professionals, Doug Landry and Frank Holmes – Join Firm

Parsippany, NJ (December 5, 2019) – Langan Engineering & Environmental Services officially announced the opening of its Boston office. Managing Principal, John Plante, a Massachusetts native, who has led Langan’s New Haven office, will be relocating to oversee operations in Boston. Langan also announced that two key Boston technical experts have joined the firm as Associates: Doug Landry and Frank Holmes.

Langan’s Boston office is centrally located at 888 Boylston Street.

“We have long viewed Boston as a great city, and we have many clients there who have requested we set up shop locally to support their projects,” said David T. Gockel, President/CEO, Langan. “John Plante has done a phenomenal job growing our Connecticut business, and we are confident he will replicate that success in Boston, where he started his career. Adding well-known local talent like Doug Landry and Frank Holmes, as well as local staff they have worked with has accelerated our entry into the market, and will ensure that we continue to contribute to the success of our clients.”

Plante joined Langan in October 1998 and subsequently served as the leader of its relatively new office in New Haven. With Plante at the helm, New Haven experienced 300% growth. Moreover, Plante built a multi-disciplined team that expanded from Langan’s initial retail development roots to handle projects in virtually all sectors, including universities, healthcare, K-12, multi-family, mixed-use, and industrial warehouse/fulfillment centers throughout the state and New England.

“Doug Landry, Frank Holmes and I are thrilled to be establishing operations for Langan in Boston,” said Plante. “The city and region continue to undergo wide-scale redevelopment, which presents a great opportunity for Langan to support projects for prospective clients, and Boston clients we know well from working with them in other cities. The combination of our local knowledge and Langan’s technical excellence and responsiveness will effectively raise the bar for consultant performance in Boston.”

Doug Landry, who serves as the day-to-day local leader, has over 30 years of experience in the Greater Boston real estate industry. Landry specializes in land planning, development strategy, and innovative urban design. He led planning strategy on Trinity Place, which was the first project ever reviewed under the City of Boston’s Article 80 process. Other projects led by Landry include the WGBH Headquarters at Boston Landing and Marlborough Hills (home of Quest Diagnostics Lab of the Future, GE Healthcare U.S. Life Sciences Headquarters, and Whole Foods Regional Headquarters).

“The pace and complexity of projects in this region are well-suited for Langan, which truly practices technical excellence, practical experience, and client responsiveness every day at a level like no other firm I know,” said Landry. “Moreover, our mix of site/civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering is a unique differentiator for Langan in this market and will bring measurable value for our clients in and around Boston.”

Frank Holmes has over 25 years of experience in the region as a project manager and engineer on land development projects with a focus on storm water management, sewer system and water systems analysis and design, as well as local, state, and federal permitting. Past projects include Harvard Stadium’s renovation, the East Boston Public Library, the Commonwealth Honors College at UMass Amherst, the Roxbury Latin School’s Indoor Athletic Facility and Outdoor Athletics Complex, and the MarketStreet shopping village in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.

Langan is actively recruiting for site/civil, geotechnical and environmental professionals in Boston.
