Think Texas, and you’ll think big oil, and these days natural gas, too. That’s what Langan was thinking when we opened our Houston office two years ago to leverage success with Houston-based players in the Marcellus and Utica Shale markets of Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. The firm has become very active in upstream and midstream projects, yet being a consultant in energy-rich regions means opportunities to support the many markets that grow along with oil and gas.

But no plan works without the right people. Enter W. Kyle Bogardus, PE, Senior Associate at Langan, fresh from his second tour of duty in the Middle East and looking for a new challenge. He moved his family to Houston and has built a full-service office that provides our integrated services — site/civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering — to all manner of clients, including developers, universities, healthcare, corporations, and the oil and gas market.

As a result, the Houston office has grown, comprising a mix of Langan transplants and highly-qualified, technically excellent local experts that know the “ins and outs” of the regional approval and permitting processes. Current Langan clients in Houston include Shell, Phillips 66, and NextEra in the oil and gas energy sector. Additionally, our site development portfolio includes several projects at the University of Houston Clear Lake, multiple retail projects, and other private mixed-use developments. For Langan, these sectors have found growth and continued success within the diverse economy of Houston. Our approach has become a tried-and-true blueprint.
