Two Langan Projects Recognized by CalGeo
by: Nicole VeenstraThe California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CalGeo) recognized two Langan projects—100-120 Stockton Street and Moraga Creek—with Outstanding Project Awards during its Annual Conference in San Francisco earlier this month. CalGeo’s annual awards highlight the best geotechnical projects across California, based on innovation, difficulty, quality of deliverables, team collaboration, and overall impact.
100-120 Stockton Street won the award for the Private-Medium Project category, while Moraga Creek received an honorable mention in the Public-Large Project category.
100-120 Stockton Street involved the renovation of a former Macy’s men’s store into a mixed-use office and retail building. The project involved structurally reinforcing the building, renovating the exterior concrete façade, relocating elevators, removing and replacing the ground floor, and lowering the basement level. Langan provided geotechnical and environmental services.
The Moraga Creek flood and erosion control project began after intense rainfall caused earth movement on a hillside property along the creek in 2016 and 2017. Langan’s geotechnical and site/civil engineers worked with other project team members to design a slope retention system, protect the integrity of Moraga’s newly constructed Canyon Road Bridge, and provide space for trail restoration throughout the area.
