AN EXCLUSIVE LANGAN EMAIL UPDATE - MARCH 2021
Data Center Surge
Langan Makes Mission Critical Click around the Country
Serena Jang knows how to support servers. She’s not a computer scientist, rather a geotechnical engineer, but the demand for her team’s subsurface expertise is surging as data centers dot the landscape from Silicon Valley to the suburbs of Washington, DC.
While data center development has been steadily growing, the sector boomed over the last decade – to the tune of more than $100 billion – spurred by e-Commerce, cloud computing, and, most recently, the sudden need to work remotely due to COVID-19. Yet even with new data centers popping up everywhere, choosing the right site can be daunting when considering environmental risk, land price, and proximity to the end user.
