The Emeryville Center of Innovation

OVERVIEW
The Emeryville Center of Innovation is expanding four new buildings and retrofitting current facilities within the campus. The proposed buildings will include 910,000-SF of Class A laboratory, office space, parking structure, and support facilities. Langan performed a geotechnical investigation for the design and construction of the project. We evaluated seismic hazards and developed site-specific response spectrums to assist the project team in the design of the buildings during an earthquake. Our team estimated static and seismic settlements and recommended auger cast in place piles for the foundation system. Additionally, we provided recommendations regarding the design of flexible and rigid pavements, exterior concrete slabs, as well as utility trench backfill and structural soil for new trees.
