American Airlines – O’Hare Remediation

OVERVIEW
As part of the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP), American Airlines Group, Inc. carried out a tank removal on their leased property near Terminal 3 at the Chicago O’ Hare International Airport. OMP called for the removal of two 20,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs), a 1,000-gallon oil aboveground storage tank (AST), fuel dispensers, associated piping and potentially impacted soils located within the UST, AST and dispenser island excavation areas. Langan performed oversight of construction activities, soil and groundwater sampling, and preparation of the tank closure report. These efforts were conducted with the eventual goal of administratively closing Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST).
