Columbus Magnet School
OVERVIEW
The city of Norwalk is currently securing approvals from CTDEEP to utilize a portion of the Springwood Park for the new Columbus School, a 66,000-SF, 480 student intra-district magnet school with a multi-purpose field, which will replace the existing Columbus School, located nearby. Langan provided engineering and land use permitting services to support project development and obtain necessary local and state approvals. Our team consulted with the project’s Landscape Architect regarding site layout, circulation and grading. Langan also provided survey services, including coordinating with a soil scientist to delineate the wetlands and preparing supporting materials detailing proposed mitigation measures to assist in receiving local Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Agency approval for the project. Additionally, we worked with the City of Norwalk to prepare mapping necessary for the land-swap associated with the relocation of Springwood Park to accommodate the new school and the City’s purchase of two additional properties in the northern portion of the site.
