Industrial Wastewater – Treatment & Compliance

Our client operates gas separation facilities across the United States and manufactures gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon for industrial use. Their operations generate wastewater discharged into surface water, which is regulated by local states under individual NPDES permits. In response to these facilities exceeding NPDES permit limitations for multiple parameter over several years, Langan was retained to provide ongoing permitting and enforcement matters and environmental services to bring their facilities into compliance. Our services  included wastewater characterization sampling, remedial alternatives analyses, treatability testing, column testing, remedial design, fabricator support and coordination, and on-site support including start-up and shakedown testing, on-going laboratory sampling, troubleshooting, and process support. We also developed a PowerBI dashboard for convenient data compilation and facilitated long-term trend analysis. Additionally, we provided compliance support, including plan and permit preparation, regulatory negotiations, and overall compliance strategy development.
