Jefferson House

OVERVIEW
Jefferson House is an existing senior care facility with a focus on attending to the needs of residents with degenerative disease. Langan was hired by the project architect for landscape architecture + planning services. An exterior nook created by the existing building shape is reserved for a new garden designed for healing and therapeutic activities. An oval shaped walking path with strategically located benches and game tables encircles multiple amenities including a seating area with a natural stone outdoor fireplace, a boulder waterfall into a decorative pond-less gravel streambed, raised garden beds for therapeutic gardening, and a flush boardwalk observation deck leading to a meandering gravel pathway. A garden of outdoor musical instruments is located to the east and connected by the oval shaped walking path.
