Keller Army Community Hospital Expansion

OVERVIEW
The Keller Army Community Hospital expansion included construction of the 51,000 SF Brian D. Allgood Ambulatory Clinic, parking areas, and a stormwater management basin. Located on the eastern side of the hospital, the multi-story structure extends into a steep, rocky hillside. Langan performed a comprehensive geotechnical investigation of the building footprint to evaluate the soil and rock conditions for shallow foundation design, discovering a dense glacial till. We provided shallow foundation design parameters for bearing directly on till and bedrock, recommendations to address large boulders located in the till deposit, and underpinning procedures for areas where the hospital footings were affected by the lower floor elevation.
