Moraga Creek Flood and Erosion Control

OVERVIEW
Following bouts of intense rainfall, earth movement occurred along a 300-foot-long stretch of Moraga Creek, including a hillside property owned by East Bay Municipal Utility District. The resulting landslides also damaged a portion of the nearby Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail. Langan responded to the damage, designing a slope retention system to support the hillside, protect the integrity of the newly constructed Canyon Road Bridge, and provide space for trail restoration. Langan performed subsurface investigations and slope stability analyses, provided geotechnical recommendations for landslide repair, and prepared grading and drainage plans. We also prepared a planting plan and 3D renderings of the project to engage the public and inform residents of how the project will impact the community and environment.
