Multi-Phased Terrestrial & Aquatic Ecological Risk Assessment

Langan developed and implemented a highly complex multi-phased ecological risk assessment (ERA) consisting of seven diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats at a former pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The assessment included bird, fish, and benthic surveys; surface soil, sediment, porewater, surface water, and biota sampling and analysis; sediment and surface soil toxicity testing; and extensive site-specific food chain modeling to assess the risk to birds, mammals, fish, and the benthic community. The ERA is ongoing and will support development of a remedial approach as necessary to address soil and sediment impacts.
