Newark Liberty International Airport – Terminal A Redevelopment

OVERVIEW
The original Terminal A was constructed in 1973 and consisted of 27 gates and branches in three circular satellite buildings. Due to limited terminal and airside capacity, as well as aging mechanical systems, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) proposed a major redevelopment to build a 1-million-SF terminal building on three levels in a “T” configuration. The building provides 33 domestic aircraft gates and operates as a common use facility. To accommodate redevelopment plans, satellite buildings were demolished.
