Sylmar Studios

Sylmar Studios is a 300,000 SF, state-of-the-art, independent-for-rent production facility on 27 acres in San Fernando Valley. The complex encompasses six 16,000 SF soundstages, a 600-space parking structure, and additional production areas with space for lighting and grip, hair and makeup, wardrobe, green rooms, and offices. The site posed project challenges because of its proximity to active faults, causing highly anticipated ground motions, and its location atop geologically young soil susceptible to seismic settlement. To address these challenges, we provided a grading and shallow foundation system solution for the large building and parking structure, significantly reducing our client’s construction cost. We also helped keep the project on schedule, despite significant construction and weather delays.
