White Plains Redevelopment

OVERVIEW
The White Plains Urban Renewal Project involved a massive rebuilding of the core area of this major city. Previously under-utilized land was cleared and buildings were demolished to make way for modern structures for housing, offices, transportation facilities, hotels and other associated uses. Langan worked with developers and the city to evaluate cost effective design and construction procedures for the numerous difficult subsoil conditions. To overcome subsoil challenges, Langan designed numerous foundation support systems and specified innovative construction procedures when cost economies could be achieved. Field monitoring data obtained from completed structures was utilized to refine the input for complex computer analyses.
