Maude & Mathilda R&D Campus – LinkedIn & Apple

OVERVIEW
Maude & Mathilda Research & Development (R&D) office campus is Class A office space that consists of three mid-rise buildings, an amenities building, and a five-level parking garage. Apple and LinkedIn occupy the 560,000 SF campus. Langan worked with the project team to evaluate options to mitigate potential volatile organic compound (VOC) vapor intrusion conditions for the site development, and to prepare design documents for the selected remedies.

Bayshore Technology Park

OVERVIEW
The one million-square foot Bayshore Technology Park exemplifies Langan's expertise with landfill redevelopment and the integration of our core engineering disciplines: site/civil, geotechnical, and environmental. We provide engineering design, permitting and bid/construction administration support for various site improvement projects throughout the campus. These site improvements support the flexibility and growth of the Park, which touts amenities that go beyond office space: fitness facilities, basketball courts, walking trails, and a Cal Train shuttle, among other amenities.

SFPUC Headquarters – 525 Golden Gate Avenue

OVERVIEW
Langan performed the geotechnical and environmental investigations for the proposed new San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Headquarters Building at 525 Golden Gate. The site was occupied by a seven-story building over a one-level basement, which was demolished and removed. The project consists of constructing a 12-story, 255,000-SF structure over one level of below-grade parking.

Cadence Campus, Building 10

OVERVIEW
Langan performed a geotechnical investigation for Building 10 on the Cadence Campus. Plans included construction of a steel framed, L-shaped, 5-story office building at grade with a plan area of approximately 40,000 SF. This project also included a 2-story, 84,000 SF steel frame and concrete tilt-up office center and a full athletic facility.

5000 Shoreline

OVERVIEW
Langan developed repair plans for the site around the existing building to mitigate differential settlement. The existing building, currently occupied by Actelion Pharmaceuticals and managed by Jones Lang LaSalle, was constructed over ten years ago on the Sierra Point Landfill. The site experienced significant settlement relative to the pile-supported building resulting in the need for site improvements. Langan also worked with the owner to address concerns on the operation of the existing methane mitigation system.

The Exchange

OVERVIEW
The Exchange reflects urban life and the Mission Bay’s rapid revitalization. Targeted for LEED Platinum certification, the estimated $485-million development will provide 680,000 SF of office space and parking in four interconnected buildings (two 7-story and two 12-story buildings). Designed for today’s workforce, The Exchange also offers ground-level retail space, a café, a lobby bike spa, rooftop gardens, and waterfront views. Due to our experience in the Mission Bay area, we were able to help the client select the most efficient and economical foundation system for the project while mitigating potential seismic hazards. Langan also completed an environmental investigation program and prepared a Site Mitigation Plan.

Seaport Plaza

OVERVIEW
Langan performed a geotechnical investigation and provided services during construction for the Seaport Plaza. The 5.7-acre site is south of Redwood Creek. The general area was once part of the tidelands and subsequently a salt evaporation pond. The development consists of two 3-story office buildings, surrounding parking lots, an entrance court yard, and raising existing levees. The lower building level is partially below grade and used for parking. A key geotechnical issue was the presence of 16 to 25 feet of weak, compressible Bay Mud.

Symantec Corporation – China

OVERVIEW
Langan designed the methane mitigation system for the Symantec Corporation's new research and development facility. The development includes two 20,000 square meters, 3- to 5- story buildings constructed in a former industrial area. Once the VMS was completed, we prepared a report in conjunction with the Jian Li (the local construction inspection service) documenting acceptable installation of the VMS.
