Veterans Affairs Solar Parking

OVERVIEW
Langan performed geotechnical investigations for solar modules for 14 sites at the Veterans Affairs – Los Angeles complex (North Campus). The Veteran Affairs (VA) complex is comprised of various buildings, roads, parking areas, and landscaped areas. Each site consists of two to four parking lots. The objective of our investigation was to evaluate the subsurface conditions and develop recommendations for the foundations of solar panels to be installed on top of carports. The solar panels used a parking lot canopy “T” structure supported on drilled pier foundations.

Bayonne Crossing

OVERVIEW
This 356,000-SF power shopping center is anchored by both a Lowe's Home Improvement and Walmart Supercenter. The 29-acre brownfield site, formerly part of an oil refinery and major industrial facility, required extensive environmental remediation prior to redevelopment. Langan provided and coordinated all site/civil, traffic, environmental, geotechnical and permitting/entitlement services.

Willingboro Town Center

OVERVIEW
The Willingboro Shopping Center was one of the first large malls constructed in New Jersey in the early 1960’s. By the mid 1990’s the center was totally vacant and abandoned. Since it occupied about 50 acres fronting on a major highway, planning studies indicated that the land had high value if appropriate uses could be found. This led to the design of a multi-use town center containing a library, a community college facility, residential and retail stores as well as a pharmaceutical production facility. The focal point is a Town Green which ties the complex together. Langan prepared site planning studies and completed site designs for the new facilities. This included all services from preliminary surveys to construction documents.

2505 Bruckner Boulevard

OVERVIEW
2505 Bruckner is a state-of-the-art urban logistics facility that delivers access to over 9.4 million people in a 15-mile radius. The 2-story warehouse is 840,000 SF with an adjacent 40,000-SF parking garage and 159,000-SF elevated truck court structure. Langan performed a geotechnical subsurface investigation consisting of drilled and cone probe borings that satisfied the New York City Building Code (NYCBC) and provided valuable soil and rock information for foundation design on this challenging site. Langan engaged in foundation and site/civil design efforts with the project design team and worked through significant coordination challenges. Langan also performed a site-specific seismic study for the site to assist the structural engineer with foundation design. The project required significant permitting efforts with various regulatory agencies, including the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and others.
